After receiving a lot of interest in our 10m design at the Southampton Boat Show we decided to have a new look at it for 2014. And here it is, now known as the D995, and the third series Dazcat to undergo a model revision during 2013-2014. The goal of the redesign was to bring a performance orientated bridge deck catamaran to the market at a very reasonable price, be fast and fun to sail and complement our D1195 and D1495 series designs.
The design sticks to the classic Dazcat layout, proven to work very well. The galley and navigation station set half down in the hulls give full standing headroom and great all-round views through the saloon windows. The saloon seating is U-shaped and the table drops down to create a double berth. This area has sitting headroom to maintain good bridge deck clearance and a balanced look to the boat’s lines. Single/cosy doubles are situated aft in both hulls. Forward on the port side is a small head and shower compartment, and on starboard another single berth/storage area.
She will be a quick and exciting boat to sail, even more so than her predecessor, and very responsive to the helms, housed in twin cockpits. These feature tiller steering with kick-up rudders, sheet winches and control lines.
We have added stiffness to the hulls and removed the forward beam to bring her in line with our other series designs. The rig comes in alloy as standard, with a race carbon option which is slightly taller. Sails comprise the full kit, including a square-top fully-battened main, self-tacking jib and asymmetric kite.
Auxiliary motor is an outboard set in under the deck; a twin installation is also being considered as an option.
Construction is high standard vacuumed foam sandwich, using multi-axial E-glass fabric, Kevlar and carbon reinforced with vinylester and isothalic polyester resin systems, utilising existing but modified moulds. The finish is a gel coated cockpit area and optional spray painted topsides and decks with metallic finishes.
Antifouling is self eroding with an option for copper.
Availability is from a structural shell for you to complete, to a fully kitted boat ready to race or cruise. Detailed prices will be available soon on request. Please get in touch if you are interested in the new Dazcat 995 or D995R, and we will keep you up to speed with progress on the first boat.
