After receiving a lot of interest in our 10m design at the Southampton Boat Show we decided to have a new look at it for 2014. And here it is, now known as the D995, and the third series Dazcat to undergo a model revision during 2013-2014. The goal of the redesign was to bring a performance orientated bridge deck catamaran to the market at a very reasonable price, be fast and fun to sail and complement our D1195 and D1495 series designs.

The design sticks to the classic Dazcat layout, proven to work very well. The galley and navigation station set half down in the hulls give full standing headroom and great all-round views through the saloon windows. The saloon seating is U-shaped and the table drops down to create a double berth. This area has sitting headroom to maintain good bridge deck clearance and a balanced look to the boat’s lines. Single/cosy doubles are situated aft in both hulls. Forward on the port side is a small head and shower compartment, and on starboard another single berth/storage area.

She will be a quick and exciting boat to sail, even more so than her predecessor, and very responsive to the helms, housed in twin cockpits. These feature tiller steering with kick-up rudders, sheet winches and control lines.

We have added stiffness to the hulls and removed the forward beam to bring her in line with our other series designs. The rig comes in alloy as standard, with a race carbon option which is slightly taller. Sails comprise the full kit, including a square-top fully-battened main, self-tacking jib and asymmetric kite.

Auxiliary motor is an outboard set in under the deck; a twin installation is also being considered as an option.

Construction is high standard vacuumed foam sandwich, using multi-axial E-glass fabric, Kevlar and carbon reinforced with vinylester and isothalic polyester resin systems, utilising existing but modified moulds. The finish is a gel coated cockpit area and optional spray painted topsides and decks with metallic finishes.

Antifouling is self eroding with an option for copper.

Availability is from a structural shell for you to complete, to a fully kitted boat ready to race or cruise. Detailed prices will be available soon on request. Please get in touch if you are interested in the new Dazcat 995 or D995R, and we will keep you up to speed with progress on the first boat.

Spec

The cruising rig is 12.5m aluminium section with a single set of spreaders, diamonds and stainless rigging.

The sails include a fully battened main and self-tacking jib made from a cruising laminate.

Foresails attach to a aluminium spinnaker pole with a carbon seagull striker and synthetic bridle wires.

The forward net between the hulls is great for sunbathing.

Twin aft cockpit seats with tiller steering make the D995 very responsive to sail. The rudders can also be lifted for beaching.

Twin carbon dagger boards make the D995 exceptionally manoeuvrable. They can be pulled down or up from the cockpit, for beaching.

Self-draining main cockpit with locker storage and engine access.

Deck gear includes only the best equipment, for improved safety and ease of use.

16-1 main and jib sheet system.

2-1 main and jib traveller systems.

Main sail and jib halyards.

Topping lift.

2 reefs with all lines and jammers fitted to mast.

Self-tailing sheet winches on bridge deck canopy and beam.

7 cleats positioned around the boat, including one for anchoring.

Stainless steel stanchions and guard rail wires run along the outside of each hull for safety.

A sliding Perspex and carbon saloon door and Perspex saloon windows give a great view all round, and plenty of light.

In-beam foredeck locker with anchor chain and line.

Opening foredeck hatches ventilate and illuminate the hulls.

Single Yamaha 9.9 engine installed under cockpit.

Electrics include 80amp start battery and switch gear.

25 litre fuel tank built in to the deck for safety.

Nav lights include a tri and bi colour fitted to the mast.

LED and fluorescent interior lights are fitted in hulls, cabins and saloon.

Reboarding ladder fitted to the transom for swimming and recovery.

The hulls and beams are finished with a 65PA gel coat. The decks are coated with non-slip 2 pack polyurethane paint.

Interior finishes are part faired and painted, for reduced weight and increased performance, combined with some lined areas in the cabins for comfort and sound absorption.

Internal floor painted non slip as standard.

Upholstery includes good quality fire proof foam berth mattresses and saloon seat cushion sets.

The wooden saloon table drops to create a third double berth in the saloon when needed.

We have kept the specification simple to offer the best priced starting package, allowing for further individual customisation.
